Trailer with the possibility of extending 6m for the transport of buses

By Suzana Savković,

We must admit that there are much more frequent requests for the production of low-load trailers for the transport of certain construction machines and other equipment, but this time the job was for GSP (Gradsko Saobraćajno Preduzeće – Belgrade) and related to the design and production of an O4 category trailer for the transport of damaged long city buses. Of course, it is not difficult for us to design and manufacture, in addition to the various trailers we have produced so far, one with the possibility of extending the loading platform, for the transport of long city buses.

What is very specific and must be respected in the case of such trailers is that the towing train must meet all the conditions of movement through city traffic, which concern the rules of passing through the traffic circle, as well as the creation of appropriate slopes of the rear part of the platform, so that it can be unhindered load the bus.

In order to fulfill the above, we designed and produced a trailer with 4 axles, the first of which is on a swivel ring with an A drawbar, and of the last 3 axles, the first two are rigid, while the third is a self-steering axle. The tires are 205/65 R17.5 and the axles are from the renowned German manufacturer – Gigant, while the axle suspension is pneumatic.

The maximum permissible weight of the trailer is 32,960 kg, while the maximum legal load is 23,000 kg. This low-loading trailer – a flat plateau, with a slope of enough degrees in the rear part, has the possibility of extending the length of the loading platform up to 6m, thanks to the intermediate tracks made of aluminum, two pairs of 3m each, carrying capacity 6t/pair. At the rear end, two-part aluminum tracks with a support in the middle, two pairs x 3m, load capacity 11t/pair are installed.

The steel platform is covered with hard ash wood. The bearing turntable and A drawbar for multiple driving heights are from the renowned manufacturer – JOST. A hydraulic planetary winch EPHL 10000FN (maximum pulling force 10,000kg) is placed on the elevated part of the steel platform between the tool boxes, with rollers, cable press, 16mm thick cable, 30m long and hook, for pulling the bus onto the trailer. This winch is a smart and reliable solution for loading broken-down buses and other vehicles.

Cargo lashing rings (3.15t) in total 18 pcs., integrated in the floor platform, of which 4 pcs. on the elevated part of the platform, 2 pcs. on the mobile console and 12 pcs. on the sides, as well as 2 pcs. strong hooks  (15t) on sublime work.

The brake installation complies with Regulation ECE R13 2007/46, … brake system KNORR-BREMSE with EBS system and RSP stability program. Good braking, and the TEBS electronic braking system itself is with ABS configuration 4S/3M for a standard trailer with drawbar.

Light signaling and electrical installation is at 24V.

The spare wheel is located on its support, at the front of the chassis.

At the rear end of the trailer there are also mechanical feet – supports for securing the parking position of the trailer.
